The United Kingdom allows dual nationality. You can become a British National without giving up citizenship in your original country of nationality, if your original country allows it. 

Naturalisation is a process whereby non-British Citizens apply to The Home Secretary to be made British. 

You are advised to ensure that you meet the requirements for naturalisation before you make the application. 

You will have to pay a fee for the application. If you make an application for naturalisation and it is unsuccessful because you are not eligible for naturalisation or any incomplete application, your fees will not be refunded by the Home secretary. 

An applicant must demonstrate the following requirements: 

 You must be over 18 years and
 You must be of good character
 You should have sound mind
 You should have sufficient knowledge of English
 You must meets the residential requirements

 

You need to pass the Life in the UK test before you apply for citizenship. You will have to complete the test with in 45 minutes. Once you pass the test, then you will issue with the Pass Notification letter. 

There are additional requirements that must be fulfilled, depending on the specific circumstances of each case. 

Once the home secretary has approved your application, then you will be invited to a Citizenship ceremony to undertake an Oath and pledge of loyalty. 

You will then be awarded your Certificate of naturalisation. This certificate is your proof of British naturalisation. 

British naturalisation grants you to apply for a British Passport with the Identity and Passport services.
