OCI CARD: OCI card it means,  Overseas citizenship of India, is the life time, multiple entry visa for people who are of Indian origin based outside India.

 Eligibility criteria:- OCI is all about proving your Indian origin. If you meet the following criteria you are eligible for OCI:

- A foreign national who was eligible to become citizen of India on 26.01.1950 or
- A foreign national who was a citizen of India on or at any time after 26.01.1950 or
- A foreign national who belonged to a territory that became part of India after 15.08.1947
- Children and grand children of persons who meet criteria 1, 2 and 3.
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) of certain category who migrated from India and acquired citizenship of a - foreign country other than Pakistan and Bangladesh, are eligible for grant of OCI as long as their home countries allow dual citizenship in some form or the other under their local laws.
- OCI cannot be claimed on spouse basis in any case.
- If the applicant had ever been a citizen of Pakistan or Bangladesh, he/she will not be eligible for OCI

Benefits of OCI Card:- OCI card is entitled to the following benefits.

- Grant of multiple entry, multiple-purpose lifelong visa to visit India.
- Exemption from registration with FRRO/FRO for any length of stay in India
- Parity with NRI's in economic, financial and educational fields except in matters relating to acquisition of agriculture/plantation properties.

1. Applicants who are claiming the OCI card on their parents/grandparents basis:-

- Full version birth certificate of the applicant.
- All the documents mentioned above in A for both the parents/grandparents.
- Parents birth certificate if parents were not Indian nationals or born outside India.

2. Applicants applying on basis of one of the parents:-

- Full version birth certificate of the applicant.
- All the documents mentioned above in A for the parent.
- Current Passport is required for the other parent who was born outside India. 

3. Applicant applying on basis of one of the parent in case documents for other parent are not available 

- Full version birth certificate of the applicant.
- All the documents mentioned above in A for the parent.
- Divorce letter/ Custody letter/ Death Certificate etc. wherever applicable.
